Dr. Haitao Yin is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the Erb Institute, University of Michigan. His research interests center around one question – how regulatory policies (governments), voluntary programs (non-profit or industrial organizations), markets (businesses) and social norms (the general public) can be utilized to create systems of incentives to promote harmony between nature and society. His current research projects include: the roles of governments and insurance markets in financing the cleanup of Underground Storage Tank (UST) releases, the impacts of ISO 14001 Certification on firms’ environmental management and performance, the development of renewable energy and the voluntary cleanup programs for Brownfields. Haitao Yin received his PhD degree in Applied Economics and Managerial Science from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and his MA and BA degree from Peking University.
