2006 Conference on Public Affairs in China

 

The conference organization committee gladly reports that we had witnessed another great conference on November 18th, 2006 – the Third CIPA Annual Conference.  

 

Distinguished scholars from both US and China spoke at the conference, including James Hsiung ( Professor of Political Science, New York University),  E.S. Savas (Professor of Public Affairs, Baruch College of the City University of New York),  Jiayi, Wang (Vice President and Professor, Northwest Normal University ), Jushan Bai (Professor of Economics, New York University ), Yan Sun ( Professor of Political Science, City University of New York),  Pierre Landry (Assistant Professor of Political Science, Yale University), Qiuhong Xiong (Deputy Director of the Department of Procedural Law at the Institute of Law of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences), and Emily Hannum (Assistant Professor of Sociology, University of Pennsylvania).  

 

The conference ran from 9:30am to 5:00pm and attracted nearly 100 participants. The topics discussed included the educational reforms in current China, the development of legal systems especially on intellectual property rights, the marketization reforms in different sectors, and the political development in current and future China.
